The Horrors of Animal Cruelty

emaciated german shepherd

There is absolutely no excuse, reason or justification for being cruel to an animal. None. Zip. Nadda. Sadly, it doesn’t ever seem to go away. Almost every day I read or hear of yet another incident where some stupid human was cruel to an animal. You can see horrific true stories of this if you watch any of the Animal Planet vet or animal rescue shows, pick up a newspaper or turn on your local tv news station.

Our world needs much tougher laws to punish people who subject animals to any kind of cruelty. There should be more offenses that fall into the felony category rather than being misdemeanors and Judges should not have to limit serious consequences to human to human violence. Judges need to be given the power to level strong punishment on offenders. The offenders punishment should fit the crime not the victim. In other words — just because the victim has four legs and fur should not mean what happened to them at the hands of a human should be any less punishable than had the human done the same thing to another human.

Animals need to be re-categorized out of being considered  as nothing more than property because when something is someone’s property it gives them the feeling that “Hey, it’s my property. I can do what I want with it.” This is sooooo wrong when it comes to something that lives, breathes and loves.

There are so many incidences of animal cruelty that I can’t keep up with them all. I honestly believe if I spent every single day scouring the Internet for articles about humans being cruel, neglecting or abusing animals there still wouldn’t be enough time in the day for me to find them all. I keep a list of links on our website of some of the articles I find but there seems to be no end to them!

IN MEMORY of the Victims

Because these animals, their lives and their horror stories will always be important and should not be forgotten, I feel very strongly that they should not be removed from our site to make room for more current events. I decided to start a page to move them to instead. When I remove a link from the sidebar it will come to live here on this page in tribute and memory of the victims.
